Tree Survey

In recent years, tree surveys have become required for many area jurisdictions and are normally permitting driven. We have seen a rise in the requirement along the entire Gulf Coast in all the states that we currently serve across Alabama, Florida and Mississippi. A tree survey is normally required prior to development to try and preserve what jurisdictions would deem protected trees due to the size and species that they believe to be in character with their viewpoint of smart development.

A tree survey performed by Polysurveying would locate the size of the tree at DBH or diameter at breast height as shown in diagram B.

Tree Survey 1
In performing a tree survey by Polysurveying there are several types of trees that we can show with their size at DBH (example: 10-inch oak, 12-inch pine, 8-inch magnolia) but not the specific scientific names. Our job is to locate the size, type and depict them on a survey. All tree surveys performed by our firm require a boundary survey to accurately depict them to ensure that the permitting jurisdiction is satisfied for the proposed development.
Tree Survey 2
We are often tasked by landscape architects in special requests to show the drip line of specific trees for planning of the house or other structure to preserve the roots of the tree and allow it to remain healthy and intact. Diagram H below indicates how driplines are shown and how they can be important for comprehensive development of a site or residence.

When getting ready for that next project and trees are critical contact Polysurveying to aide in getting the information needed to satisfy local agencies.
